David Searle

Name: David Searle
Qualification: BVSc.
DVSC
David graduated from Sydney University in 1995 and after a year in mixed practice went back to Sydney Uni to complete a Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Studies majoring in Equine Medicine and Surgery. The next 3 years were spent between working in Canberra and overseas. In 2001 David made the the South Coast home and became a partner in the Illawarra Equine Centre. He purchased a 100 acre property in Meroo Meadow and established a veterinary clinic on the property. Life has changed considerably since then, he married Debbie and they had 3 children Lucy, Olivia and Hamish. With a general interest in all aspects of Equine Science David has a particular interest in  advanced reproductive techniques such as embryo transfer and freezing while maintaining his love for thoroughbred racing and performance. Continuing education is a important part of veterinary practice and David attends many seminars and conferences with the highlight being invited to attend the International Symposium on Equine Reproduction in Kentucky USA in 2010.
 
Chris Lawler

Name: Chris Lawler
Qualifications: BVSc.
Chris spent much of his childhood in the Berry area. After graduating as a vet he worked in equine practice in South Australia, Ireland and Richmond NSW, before returning to the Illawarrra and establishing his own equine practice in 1986. It became the Illawarra Equine Centre in 2003 when David Searle became a partner.
Chris relinquished his partnership in 2009, but continues to maintain an ongoing relationship with the practice as a consultant.
He lives in Gerringong with his wife Mary, twin daughters Kate and Maddy and son Tom. He is continuing to pursue his love of thoroughbred sales consultancy and racing

  Gill Rickard

NAME: Gill Rickard
QUALIFICATIONS: BVSc. (Hons) B.Ed (Hons) NCAS Level 3 Dressage Coach, A Level Dressage Judge, FEI Veterinarian.
Gill has been involved with horses since she was 7 years old and has owned, bred, trained and competed on them since then. Dressage is her passion but she has also shown various breeds, driven, ridden sidesaddle, and recently had a lesson in cutting. Gill represented Australia in the first dressage team of horses to go to the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm in 1990 on a palomino mare called Peaches and Cream. Back then she was a school teacher, more recently she decided to go back to uni and study vet science, so she could combine her skills gained from years in the  performance horse industry with keeping all horses healthy , happy and productive.  When time allows she coaches a few riders seeking to improve their dressage.

Management of performance horses, reproduction.

  Johann Schulze

NAME: Johann Schulze
QUALIFICATIONS: BVSc. Dr Med Vet.

Johann joined IEC in 2009 after relocating to Australia from Germany with his wife Susi. He graduated from the highly acclaimed Hanover Veterinary College in Germany in 2002. In addition Johann completed a doctorial thesis in equine reproduction while working at the main Hanoverian Warmblood stud in Celle.

After spending some time at renowned clinics in North America he worked for an equine specialist clinic in Munich for four years which mainly specialised in orthopaedics of sport and race horses, but also provided all other services of equine practice. Upon his arrival in Australia Johann worked for the Randwick Equine Centre whilst finishing the Australian Veterinary Exam before moving to the Illawarra.

In his spare time you will find him playing hockey for the Kiama Hockey Cub and breeding Warmblood horses with his wife at there little farm in Berry.
